SAN DIEGO — A 62-year-old woman suffered major head injuries and died shortly after, Saturday night when she was struck by a car as she crossed Reynard Way in the Middletown neighborhood,San Diego police said.

On the evening of 2/25/12, The 62-year-old woman  was a pedestrian walking east in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Reynard Way and Redwood Street in the Middletown area of San Diego City. For unknown reasons, the driver of a tan Honda Civic sedan failed to yield for her in the crosswalk and struck her. She was thrown to the street and sustained extensive blunt force injuries. She was transported to UCSD Medical Center where, despite aggressive resuscitative efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead in the trauma/surgical intensive care unit shortly after her arrival.
