Riverside police seek driver involved in pedestrian death
Riverside police today sought a pickup truck driver who may have caused another driver to swerve into a woman walking along the shoulder of the road, fatally injuring her.
Carmen Pineda had gone to a friend’s grave site Friday to pay her respects, but she never made it home.
Pineda, 37, of Riverside was killed while she was walking back on Arlington Avenue near the Norco city limits.
She was on the south shoulder of Arlington just west of Fairhaven Drive around 12:29 p.m. when a black pickup crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic. An eastbound Dodge pickup swerved off the road to avoid the black truck and struck Pineda, according to Riverside police.
Pineda died of her injuries at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside Community Hospital. Police are looking for the black truck, which did not stop at the scene.
