Pedestrians hit, pushed into oncoming traffic
FULLERTON – Two pedestrians suffered critical injuries early Wednesday morning after being hit by two vehicles near the downtown bar area, police said.
The accident happened at about 1:45 a.m. when the pedestrians were crossing westbound on Harbor Boulevard between Commonwealth and Santa Fe avenues, Fullerton police Lt. Lorraine Jones said.
They were hit by a vehicle traveling northbound, and the impact pushed them into the southbound lanes where they were struck again by a vehicle traveling southbound, Jones said.
The victims were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange to be treated for critical injuries.
The drivers of both vehicles, a GMC Sierra pickup and a four-door Toyota, stopped and were questioned by police.
The investigation is continuing, and it’s not yet known if alcohol played a role in the accident.
Harbor Boulevard between Valencia Drive and Commonwealth Avenue has been closed for the investigation and is expected to reopen at about 9 a.m
