Beaumont: Driver of pickup who slammed into big rig identified
Authorities today identified a 65-year-old man who was killed when his pickup truck slammed into the back of a big rig on Interstate 10 in Beaumont.
Edward Dodson III of Yucaipa died at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 9:30 Tuesday night on the eastbound 10, near Beaumont Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Darren Meyer.
He said Dodson apparently failed to see that a semi tractor-trailer was slowing to a stop ahead of him for road construction and plowed into the rear of the rig.
The victim’s 1992 Toyota pickup crumpled on impact, Meyer said.
The driver of the big rig was uninjured.
Cause of the Beaumont Accident
Officers are still Investigating the reasons behind deadly I-10 crash in Beaumont.
Highway and road construction zones make for some of the most dangerous road conditions in California. It seems that major highways and thoroughfares are nearly under construction leaving drivers to deal with improperly marked roads, obstacles and other hazardous conditions. Hundreds of drivers and passenger cars, semi trailer trucks and motorcycles are injured or killed every year in construction zone accidents that could have been prevented.
Dangerous Roadway Conditions
In a construction zone accident, there may be more than one party liable for compensating you for your serious injuries . Road maintenance crews, highway engineers, construction zone traffic controllers and other drivers are often held legally accountable for damages.
Roadway defect claims are complex injury claims and many attorneys are hesitant to handle these cases because of their level of difficulty. An experienced auto accident attorney who has successfully won roadway design and defect cases will know what experts to consult with to determine if the condition of the roadway was actually a factor in the accident.
