A pedestrian was killed late Saturday after being struck by a car in San Marino, authorities said Sunday.
Zhong Yi Cheng, 62, of San Gabriel, was walking across San Gabriel Boulevard near Sheffield Road when he was hit by the vehicle about 10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the car, Michael Munoz, 35, initially did not know what he had hit and got out of the car to investigate.
When he saw that it was a person, he called 911, authorities said. Cheng was pronounced dead at the scene.
Munoz was not cited and the incident remains under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, the CHP said.
